For several years now His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Maharaja has been taking devotees to visit holy places after concluding the Gaura Purnima festivities in Mayapura. This year in Vrndavana dhama it has been our great privilege to welcome Maharaja and the safari devotees for a whole week of blissful sadhu sanga.

The Safari devotees numbering 130 left Sri dhama Mayapura on 23rd March and visited Gaya and Kurukshetra prior to arriving in Vrndavana on the 29th.

During their time spent here their itinerary was as follows:

On 30th March they visited the seven goswami temples and we were very fortunate to hear greatly inspiring words from HH at Sri Sri Radha Damodara Mandir. The next day the devotees blissfully took part in Govardhana Parikrama in the middle of which HH spoke again at our ISKCON Bhaktivedanta Ashram in Govardhana. That same evening HH visited the room of HG Aindra Prabhu and was delighted to hear the story and take darshan of his beautiful Sri Sri Nitai Saci Suta deities as well as nearly 3000 Salagram silas.

Our Krishna Balarama Mandir was vibrant with spiritual energy on the 1st April when HH gave a very emotional Bhagvatam lecture and initiated new disciples. To celebrate this glorious occasion of Maharaja’s visit, a sumptuous feast was served and the event culminated in the distribution of a massive (8ftx4ft) cake which HH cut and also tasted.

On the next day the Safari party went to Varsana where HH lectured at the Sriji temple and finally on 3rd April they visited Nandagram and Vrnda kunda. Despite some inconveniences with his health and having great difficulty walking, HG Deena Bandhu prabhu very mercifully gave us his association at Ter Kadamba and Vrnda kunda. He gave very enlivening talks, thus exhibiting the same mood as his exalted godbrother - great determination to deliver nectarean Krsna katha coupled with a strong dose of good humour.

On this day we were also joined by HH Bhakti Dhir Damodar Maharaja (who is travelling with the Safari devotees) and HG Gopiparandhana Prabhu, both of whom also shared their deep realisations with us at Vrnda kunda.

In the early morning of the 4th the devotees left for Jaipur. By the merciful glance of Srimati Radharani, the visit of the Safari team was a success and they did not experience any major difficulties. We wish them well on their enlivening pilgrimage and pray to have their association again very soon.

“This is called tapasya, that “Although it is inconvenient, I must do it to solve my problems.” That is determination, dhrda-vrata, firm determination.”
